Visual Art Program

Art Course Philosophy
In the art courses, students learn how to use the elements of art and the principles of design in a lab setting where they explore, experiment, practice, critique, refine, discuss and present their works of art. Students will study God’s beautiful creation and how they can incorporate these blessings from God in their art.

“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish the work of our hands upon us;

Matthew 14:29-31 “Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’
Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ Jesus said, ‘why did you doubt?’”

What a blessing it is to have a God who saves us, even when we doubt him!

 

Shoreland has its own kiln, where students can dry their works for class.
