Forensics
The purpose of forensics is to practice and refine your public speaking abilities. With a large variety of categories, students can individualize their experience to make it fun and unique. No two pieces are the same in forensics, you can write or create any speech that fits your interests. Forensics is a great activity to meet new people at Shoreland or at different schools during competitions.
During the winter/spring seasons, forensics has several competitions where students strive for both individual and team placement. At these events, students present their speeches in three rounds of competition, aiming to achieve a perfect score of twenty-five points. Practices for events take place individually with coaches once a week throughout the season. If you are looking for a way to improve/gain public speaking skills while making friends along the way, make sure to give forensics a try!
